Elizabeth Mundy is an illustrator and comic artist whose key interest lies in exploring narrative tropes of folklore, fantasy, and science fiction. Elizabeth’s work examines the idea of story, what makes something lasting and repeatable, the motifs and meta that make up the greatest tales. Pulling from traditional symbolism with a modern twist, her work features bright, vivid colors often in high contrast with dark silhouettes. Flat graphic shapes form illustrative frames or serve as halos, and recurring motifs build a sense of unspoken mythology between pieces, as if they were all part of the same world.
Elizabeth graduated with a BFA in Communication Arts and a minor in Art History from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2020.
She is currently based in Richmond, and is working on Interludes, a comic made up of brief stories of dreams and unreal situations.
